COMPOSITION / CONTENTCelestamine TabletEach tablet contains Betamethasone Celestamine Dexchlorpheniramine maleate 0.25 mg and 2 mg.Celestamine SyrupEach 5 ml (1 tsp) Celestamine syrup containing Betamethasone Dexchlorpheniramine maleate 0.25 mg and 2 mg.
PHARMACOLOGY (HOW DRUGS)Celestamine is a combination drug containing corticosteroids and antihistamines. Betamethasone have anti-inflammatory (anti-inflammatory) and hypo-allergenic. While Dexchlorpheniramine maleate has antihistamine effect, as allergy medications and itching.
INDICATIONS / USECelestamine indications are:Various allergic diseases of the respiratory tract, skin, and eyes,Inflammatory diseases of the eye requiring oral corticosteroid treatment.
CONTRAINDICATIONCelestamine should not be given to patients with systemic fungal infections, newborns, premature babies, patients who received therapy monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAO) and patients who are hypersensitive to any component of the medication celestamine.
DOSAGE AND RULES FOR USEThe dose should be adjusted to each patient's clinical condition, the type of disease, and the weight of the disease.Adults or children aged 12 years and over:Celestamine initial dose of 1-2 tablets (1-2 tsp) 4 times daily. Drug doses should not exceed 8 tablets (8 tsp) a day. Dose in children younger should be adapted to the mild severity of disease and response to treatment.Children aged 6-12 years:Celestamine recommended dose is ½ tablet (½ tsp), 3 times a day. The dose should not exceed 4 tablets a day.Children ages 2-6 years:Celestamine recommended dose is ½ tsp 3 times daily. The dosage is adjusted with treatment response and did not exceed 2 tsp a day.Celestamine should be taken after meals.Ask your doctor about Celestamine good dose for adults and children alike.
SIDE EFFECTSCelestamine side effects can arise due to adverse side effects of corticosteroids and antihistamines.Side Effects Corticosteroids (ever reported):Fluid and electrolyte balance disorders such as: sodium retention, potassium loss, hypokalaemic alkalosis, fluid retention (congestive heart failure in patients with hypertension).Such as muscle and bone disorders: muscle weakness, corticosteroid myopathy, reduced muscle mass, myasthenia exacerbation of symptoms in patients with myasthenia gravis, osteoporosis, compression fractures of the spine, ruptured tendons, and pathologic fracture of long bones.Gastrointestinal disorders such as peptic ulcer, pangkreatitis, abdominal distention, and ulcerative esophagitis.Skin disorders: impaired healing of wounds, skin atrophy, petechiae and ecchymosis, facial erythema, excessive sweating.Nerves: vertigo, headache.Hormones: mestruasi disorders (irregular periods), and others.Eye disorders: cataract subkapsuler posterior, increased intraocular pressure, glaucoma, exophthalmos.Metabolic disorders, psychiatric, and others.Dexchlorpheniramine Maleate Side Effects:Side effects dexchlorpheniramine maleate together with other antihistamine side effects are sedation (sleepiness), and although rarely can cause toxicity.The most frequent side effects are sedation, drowsiness, dizziness, impaired coordination, dry mouth and thickening of bronchial secretions.
