COMPOSITION
Codipront Capsules
Each capsule contains: Codeine anhydrate 30 mg, 10 mg Phenyltoloxamine (both in the form resinat with ion-exchanger)
Codipront Syrup
1 tsp each drug (5 ml) contains: Codeine anhydrate 11.11 mg, 3.67 mg Phenyltoloxamine (both in the form resinat bound by ion-exchanger)
PHARMACOLOGY (HOW DRUGS)
Codipront contains two active substances with different workplaces. Codeine will reduce the cough with a central emphasis on the cough center. Phenyltoloxamine is an antihistamine that has an effect on allergies. Codipront active substances bound to the ion-exchanger to provide a slow release and uniformly in the gastrointestinal tract to achieve long-term antitussive effect with doses 2 times a day.
INDICATIONS
Symptomatic treatment of dry cough (non-productive) that accompanied the allergic state.
CONTRAINDICATION
Patients who are hypersensitive to the active ingredients and excipients
Respiratory disorders
Acute asthma attacks
Coma
Hypertrophy of the prostate with residual urine formation
Narrow-angle glaucoma
Digestive tract diseases
Pregnant or breastfeeding women
Codipront not be used in children less than 2 years due to increased risk of respiratory depression
Due to the use of codeine is contraindicated in patients with acute asthma attack, while chronic cough in children is generally an early symptom of bronchial asthma then Codipront not be used for sedation in these conditions.
SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea and vomiting are likely to arise with the previous treatment
Further effects: induction of glaucoma "narrow angle glaucoma", changes in blood cell counts (very rare) and abnormalities urination
Dependence after the use of high doses, especially in patients who are sensitive can cause visio-motor coordination and visual capacity. Also can cause respiratory depression and euphoria
Pruritus, skin reactions (redness) are very rare, dyspnoea, dry mouth, sleep disturbances, ringing in the ears (rarely observed)
Hypersensitivity effects in patients who are hypersensitive to the content of parabens (in syrup)
In the individual cases can lead to weight gain
Codeine will increase smooth muscle tone (such as intestinal muscle, kidney muscle), especially after administration of single doses of over 60 mg
High therapeutic doses or overdose may result in syncope and drop in blood pressure, pulmonary edema may occur in patients who previously had no damage lung function
Side effects generally occurred after dose reduction and can usually be avoided by administering the dose carefully and individually.
WARNING AND CAUTION
If the cough is still lasted more than 1 week or later accompanied by fever, rash or headache, consult a doctor

DOSAGE AND METHOD OF GIVING
The dose and duration of treatment depends on the underlying disease, the intensity and frequency of cough.
Codipront Capsules
Children above 14 years and adults: 2 times a day, 1 capsule, morning and afternoon
Unless otherwise stated in the prescribing physician.
Codipront Syrup
Children 2-4 years: ½ tsp (2.5 ml), 2 times a day morning and afternoon
Children 4-6 years: 1 tsp (5 ml), 2 times a day morning and afternoon
Children 6-14 years: 2 tsp (10 ml), 2 times a day morning and afternoon
Children over 14 years and adults: 3 tsp (15 ml), 2 times a day morning and afternoon
Unless otherwise stated in the prescribing physician.
The drug should be taken before going to bed.
Drug Interactions
Giving Codipront along with central drug central nervous system depressants (eg psikofarmaka, barbiturates, some kind of analgesic and anti-allergy / antihistamine) would pose a potential sedation and respiratory depressant.
Codipront combination with alcohol will reduce psychomotor ability (the ability to concentrate and solve complex problems) is more powerful than the individual components therefore this combination is not allowed.
